A couple from Iowa who had been married for 73 years died within hours of each other…

Till death do us part.

An expression that is used in wedding ceremonies to signify that a couple’s devotion to one another will last till death do them part.
And one couple from Iowa recently lived true to their promise, passing away within hours of each other in the same hospital.

Wanda Wold had been fighting Alzheimer’s illness for some years when she passed away on July 20, 2021. According to Candy Engstler, who spoke to KCCI, ‘they phoned from the nursing home at 4 a.m. and said she gone’. Wanda Wold, who died at the age of 96, had been married to Jim Wold, who died at the age of 94, for 73 years.

For the two of them, it was love at first sight from the moment they met.

The news of her mother’s death reached Engstler and her sister immediately, who went to the nursing facility where her mother and father shared a room.

They wanted to be with their father, who had just experienced the death of his wife of more than seven decades. When he saw both of us on either side of his bed, he folded his hands and thanked Jesus. “Thank you for taking her, and would you kindly take me as well?” he prayed.

Engstler got a second phone call from the nursing home a few hours after the first. Her father, who had been suffering from physical illness for some time, had passed away.

‘The fact that He allowed them to both go on the same day was lucky and fortunate’, she said. ‘This was a godsend since my father would not have wanted to be here without her.’

The fact that Jim and Wanda died within hours of one other and are now at peace together should provide some comfort to their families.
