Officer Jesse Whitten would engage in conversation with the homeless woman, but one afternoon she made a request that would alter his life forever.
To protect and serve their communities, many policemen go above and beyond. However, one police officer from Santa Rosa, California, went to an entirely other level when he tenderly adopted a homeless woman’s newborn.
The day that Officer Jesse Whitten began as a routine workday ended up being one that he and his wife would remember for the rest of their lives.
Jesse has 10 years of experience under his belt, and he expects to have many more. He became friends with a pregnant, homeless lady who was suffering from an addiction. There were occasions when he would find her a place to stay.
His wife Ashley came along with him on one of his rides around the city. It was at this place that she saw the homeless woman.
Ashley placed her hand on the homeless woman’s belly when she realized she was pregnant. Ashley had no idea that a year later, she’d be the mother of that baby.
The Whittens had three daughters, all under the age of eight.
The homeless woman had requested them to adopt her infant in February. Despite their concerns about the baby’s health, Jesse and Ashley agreed. People like these are fantastic.
These parents are overjoyed with their newborn child. She has the loveliest personality, according to Jesse, but she is also incredibly active and watchful. Who knows, maybe this little girl may grow up to be a police officer and repay her father’s generosity. We can only hope she succeeds.
Reese, 7, Kendall, 5, and Stella, 3, all gave their unanimous yes to the court at the hearing, confirming their newly adopted sister as a member of the Whitten family.
Harlow Maisey has become a Whitten! Her biological mom gave her a middle name, which the Whittens maintained to honor Harlow’s biological mother.
The nicest thing is that Harlow’s birth mother is still in touch with them. Ashley and Jesse make it a point to show her photos of her adorable newborn daughter. The Whittens want to continue advocating for foster kids.
These children, according to Ashley, are not disadvantaged. They just need love. There’s always plenty of it to go around. Harlow’s birth mother also expressed her hope for a better life for her daughter, but felt she couldn’t deliver it. As a result, she came to the friendly police officer and his wife, who would provide her with just that.
