Even if you aren’t a big fan of the movies you have probably seen “Grease” at least once in your life.
The classic film (1978 ) based on the 1971 musical with the same name, starring actors and actresses who went on to have successful careers in Hollywood.
John Travolta is one of these actors. He starring in pictures like “Pulp Fiction,” “She’s So Lovely,” “Hairspray,” Disney’s “Bolt,” and many others after “Grease,” but he’s still remembered in peoples mind as cheeky boy Danny Zuko.
The “Grease” phenomenon continues even now, and the picture is ranked as the second most successful movie of all time.
It’s no surprise, that there was a lot of anticipation for the 40th anniversary celebration of “Grease” in 2018.
We may be biased, but we can’t ignore the fact that John Travolta still looks as good as he did four decades ago.
And, as he demonstrated in an interview with Jimmy Fallon, he still has the moves.
Travolta appeared on The Tonight Show to talk about the film’s 25th anniversary, and he surprised the audience.
Despite its shortness this is a performance you should not miss!
The interview begins as any other, with Jimmy expressing his surprise that he’s interviewing “Grease” icon John Travolta – proving that even celebrities become star-struck!
The two analyze the film’s success, with Jimmy noting that the movie’s catchy musical hits are recognized to even his 12-year-old nieces.
As Jimmy adds, Travolta had the entire package since he could sing and dance incredibly well.
Jimmy tries to explain a movement Travolta performed with his partner, Olivia Newton-John, at the end of the film.
“I grew up with all these kind of novelty dances,” Travolta remembered. So, for the ‘You’re the One That I Want’ at the end of Grease, they needed a step. ‘Well, we used to do the four corners,’ I replied. ‘how to do it?’
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and Jimmy takes advantage by asking:
“Could you please show it to me?”
Travolta takes the stage in front of cheering fans, and “You’re the One That I Want” begins to play.
Jimmy used the opportunity, stand next to the “Grease” legend and begun copying his actions while bouncing on his soles.
Travolta is off, swaying his hips in the iconic “four corners” technique, walking forward and backward and truly hitting the “four corners” after waiting “till it gets into a good rhythm.”
We’re not surprised that the crowd has got crazy at this point!
They applaud and cheer, and Jimmy tells the audience to leave it to John Travolta, who is still dancing and having a great time.
While many men in their late sixties would finish up embarrassing themselves on the dance floor, Travolta demonstrated he still has it.
His great looks may have helped, but Vanity Fair reports that he was also a professional dancer before switching to acting. That is always helpful!
John Travolta and Jimmy Fallon dancing the “four corners” will help you if you need a little cheering up.
