A farm couple overcomes the gloom with a dance that has wowed audiences all over the world.

Many people are looking for solutions to combat depression. One excellent method has been developed by a farm couple from China’s Zhejiang province: dancing!

Peng Xiaoying, 45, and her 49-year-old husband, Fan Deduo, live on a farm in Ruian, Wenzhou’s Mayu township. Their livelihood is derived from a half-hectare corn field.

This couple, like any other, has faced trials and tragedies throughout their lives.

Fan was diagnosed with severe chronic depression after surviving a serious traffic accident in Yunnan province 18 years ago. Irritability, stress, and difficulty sleeping at night were among his symptoms.

The pair had a shoe-selling business in Yunnan at the time, but due to Fan’s illness, they decided to close it and relocate to Ruian, their birthplace.

Peng decided to do something about her sadness around four years ago, and she discovered that dancing was a helpful way to deal. The woman had always enjoyed dancing in public spaces and had decided to include her husband in the fun.

Fan’s first attempt at dancing coincided with the beginning of his recovery from the accident.

The couple became enamored with square dancing and even devised the shuffle. It’s a square dance that incorporates everyday activities like pumping elbows, wandering in the field, and combing hair.

It was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime find. Fan didn’t realize how much dance might change his life until he tried it. He recognized how incredible it was and discovered a new way to enjoy his daily life with his wife, Peng, on the farm.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Peng discussed how much dance had altered their lives.

‘Whenever we’re down, the shuffle dance always cheers us up and lifts our spirits.’ ‘It’s made such a difference in our life,’ Peng added.

‘I believe the major reason we are so pleased when we dance is because we are exercising with the ridge shuffle. It’s quite thrilling.’

Peng and Fan had discovered a fantastic approach to self medicate, and the greatest part was that they were able to share it with the rest of the globe.

The pair used Douyin, often known as TikTok, to upload their videos during the outbreak. With their lovely grins and true enthusiasm for dancing, they have inspired a large number of people.

On the video-sharing platform, their unusual moves and appealing appearance have attracted millions of viewers and fans. Peng and Fan’s children have also participated in the fun dancing, delighting netizens even more.

The most important thing for them is still their love for life and dance, regardless of how many viewers or likes they have.

‘We enjoy living in the country. ‘After our regular work, we dance,’ Fan explained. ‘It’s a dream come true.’
