People magazine revealed in May 2022 that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan would be visiting the United Kingdom in June. For the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the pair will travel to the prince’s country.
The Royal Family gets together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Trooping the Colour phase of the celebrations. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, according to a People source, will be excluded from the celebration.
Because Harry and his wife were not working members of the Royal Family, they would be disqualified. Prince Andrew, the prince’s uncle, is another non-working royal who will be excluded.
The annual event of Trooping the Colour commemorates the monarch’s formal birthday. A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said in a statement on May 3, 2022, that the Queen had decided to limit attendance to working royal members.
The decision was reached about a month before the event on June 2, 2022. The Sussexes will go to the United Kingdom with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, for the four-day celebrations.
The pair confirmed that they would be attending the festivities, and the Queen will be meeting her grandchild for the first time. It will also be her first meeting with her grandchild since the Sussexes’ departure from the United Kingdom in 2020.
A Star magazine insider revealed on May 30, 2022, that the Queen wasn’t the one who didn’t want the Sussexes to appear on the balcony with her. The decision was made by Prince Charles and Prince William, according to the insider, who stated:
‘They believe that since arriving to America, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have done nothing but havoc with their incessant tell-alls and interviews slamming the royal family.’
‘They think it would be ridiculous of Harry and Meghan acting all grins and waving to the fans from the balcony like they’re one big happy family,’ a source told the newspaper. Harry’s father is Charles, and his older brother is William.
With a statement he made during an ABC interview in April 2022, Harry most likely made things worse. The prince had just returned from meeting the Queen when he claimed he wanted to make sure she was ‘protected’ even if he was in another country.
He also expressed his desire for ‘the appropriate people’ to surround the king, who is 96 years old and weak. According to the insider, Charles and William were taken aback by Harry’s remark and were on their guard about his planned visit.
The Sussexes were also rumored to be working on a Royal Family documentary. As a result, Harry’s family was concerned that he and his wife might invite a film team to the celebrations.
The Duke of Cambridge was anxious, according to author Tom Bower, that his brother and Meghan would try to conduct ‘a stunt to capture the limelight.’ According to the author, William and his wife, Duchess Kate, would be ‘foolish’ not to be wary of the Sussexes.
Meghan and her husband have openly attacked the Royal Family after stepping down from top royal responsibilities, leaving them with ‘mixed feelings’ about them. One such occurrence was Oprah Winfrey’s 2021 CBS tell-all interview.
During the conversation, the couple revealed that before Archie was born, one royal member made a derogatory remark regarding his likely skin tone. The Sussexes’ royal security was also supposedly removed, and they said they didn’t feel safe in the UK.
Despite the rumored hostility, Harry wanted to return and bring his children so that the royal family might reunite. Meghan, on the other hand, appeared to have not forgiven the family for what they had put her through and was considering canceling the visit at any time.
The Queen was ‘open to having Harry and Meghan up there with her,’ the insider added, making the balcony drama ‘sad.’ However, William and his father are said to have made all of the decisions and wanted the event to run smoothly.
The newlyweds [Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan] will place a greater emphasis on ‘maintaining a low profile.’ The Sussexes, according to a Marie Claire story, didn’t think the balcony ceremony was important because Harry was more concerned with the family having a wonderful reunion. The royals traditionally watch the Royal Air Force (RAF) flypast and greet spectators during the balcony ceremony.
A Daily Mail insider purported to be Meghan and Harry’s acquaintance disclosed in the middle of May 2022 that the couple had never been interested in the balcony ceremony in the first place! Journalist and novelist Omid Scobie highlighted the couple’s interests.
Meghan and her husband will not be seen much during the Jubilee, according to Christine Ross, co-host of ‘Royally Us.’ The couple will concentrate on ‘maintaining a low profile.’
Harry and his wife, on the other hand, will be attending additional ‘private celebrations’ to honor the queen. The Sussexes said that they were ‘happy and honored’ to be invited after learning of the balcony ban.
