One day, an elderly woman in British Columbia was so lonely that she started behaving out. Thankfully, a caring officer recognized her situation and came to her aid, demonstrating that no work is too little for the police.
Emergency Health Services contacted the Delta Police Department in 2019 for a lady who appeared angry and uncooperative.
When police arrived, the unidentified woman in her 90s expressed her disappointment with her family for being unable to visit her that day.
She became upset and heartbroken as a result of this. The responding officer knew that all she needed was some company at this time.
As a result, he sat down for a while and engaged her in discussion. The officer reported shortly after the meeting that the polite old woman had been a joy to deal with.
‘I wanted to flag [the report] because our officers never know what kind of call they’re going to get, but this had a nice conclusion that we had to share,’ said Cris Leykauf, the department’s public affairs manager.
The Delta Police Department also shared the fantastic tale on their official Facebook page. ‘Our officer described her as’very polite to deal with’ and indicated that she was simply annoyed by the situation in his file notes.
After that, he sat down with her for a nice cup of tea ‘According to Narcity, the department explained itself.
During an interview with CityNews, Leykauf emphasized that police officers are also people, and that they enjoy mingling with the community whenever possible.
‘I believe our officers are always searching for those small opportunities to connect with the community, such as giving toddlers high-fives on the playground,’ she said.
