Rebecca Szeto, a San Francisco-based artist, turns used paintbrushes into gorgeous pictures. She carves delicate painted Renaissance ladies from the ends of her old paintbrushes, and the bright brush hairs form the sweeping elegant strands of their dresses.
In her artist statement, Szeto states, ‘These pieces deal with notions of re-forming beauty and value.’ ‘I’m influenced by my experience as a faux finisher and employ simple, end-of-life, mass-produced materials.”
