After years of having no guests, the family of an autistic 8-year-old boy requests birthday cards.

Nothing makes us as parents sadder than seeing our children upset, unable to comprehend why the world can be so harsh.

I don’t know about you, but when my children were small, I did everything I could to make their birthdays wonderfully memorable.

Birthdays should always be celebrated, but I felt it was necessary to give children at least one day a year when the world would practically come to a halt for them.

That meant large celebrations, loads of affection, and being surrounded by the people they loved about the most in the entire world.

That’s why the story of an 8-year-old boy named Austin from Atlanta, Georgia, touched me so deeply…

According to accounts, Austin has had multiple birthday parties where no one showed up; now, his family is desperately attempting to rally the troops to ensure that this does not happen again.

Bri Sosebee, Austin’s aunt, stated, ‘My nephew turns 9 on September 14th.’ He didn’t have anyone show up to his birthday party last year.’

Bri also mentioned that Austin is autism, so the concept of people not showing up to celebrate his birthday is difficult for him to comprehend.

‘He’s disappointed that people don’t think about him. He is Autistic and doesn’t understand,’ said Bri.

Bri Sosebee, Austin’s aunt, stated, “My nephew turns 9 on September 14th.” He didn’t have anyone last year.

‘People bully him at school, and no one shows up to any of his events,’ Bri explained. ‘Every child deserves to be cherished, and he deserves to be surrounded by friends.’

This year, Austin’s family is asking strangers from all over Georgia to help them give Austin a memorable birthday. They’re openly requesting birthday cards to show him how much he’s loved.

‘Perhaps a few birthday cards and he’ll know there are others who want to send him something, who care,’ Bri suggested.
