Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick: With 34 years of marriage under their belt, the pair is frequently questioned about the secret to their long marriage. They also revealed why they children left them and went away

Kyra was just 12 years old the first time she saw Kevin. Kevin was seven years her senior at the time.

Kyra had gone to see a film starring Bacon with her brother and later met the actor in person.

Almost a decade later, the two met again on the set of ‘Lemon Sky,’ where Kyra Sedgwick recalled that Bacon was not her type.

He was clearly not my type. In fact, Kyra revealed to Wide Open Country, ‘I definitely recall looking at his butt when he walked away when we first met and thought, Well, I guess some girls like that.’

But it appears that something changed her mind because the two married the following year, in 1988.

They married in Connecticut, followed by a banquet for 300 people at the Manhattan bar Au Bar. Kevin and Kyra, who married on Christmas Eve in 1987, only invited friends and family to their wedding celebration.

Travis Sedgwick Bacon, their first child, was born shortly after the wedding. Sosie Ruth, their other child, was born in 1992.

Sosie has followed in her parents’ footsteps by starring as Skye Miller in the Netflix teen drama ‘13 Reasons Why.’ Travis works as a solo musician and composed the music for his parents’ film ‘Story of a Girl.’

With 34 years of marriage under their belt, the pair is frequently questioned about the secret to their long marriage.

In a 2015 interview published in Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Bacon responded, ‘Whatever you do, don’t listen to celebrities for advise on how to stay married.’

According to them, the reason they have been famously together for so long is that they are not competitive with one another, instead fully supporting one another.

Kyra felt a little overwhelmed when the question of their children leaving the house arose. ‘It’s unusual, and it’s hard,’ she remarked of her empty nest.

I’m grateful to have adult children now, but I remember thinking at first, ‘Wait, what are you talking about?’

I gave birth to you, I cared for you your entire life, and now you’re leaving me!’ It didn’t feel right.’

It took some convincing for Sedgwick to spend more time in Connecticut, but once they started, they never looked back.

The farmhouse itself is lovely and straight out of a fairy tale. It has a white exterior and a black tiled roof. The garden features red lawn chairs where the couple can relax on sunny days.

They spend time as a family on their porch, which is lined with wooden slats. There are numerous areas on the farm where you can lounge and unwind. The plantings on either side of the porch are lush and attractive.

The kitchen boasts granite counters and a huge tiled floor. White cabinets with a silver finish. A large kitchen island complements the stovetop.

The house also features a lovely front door. The french doors lead directly up from the porch and overlook a lovely garden. The doors are painted white and stand out brilliantly against the green and oak floors.

The property also includes a red barn that houses the couple’s animals. The pair occasionally sings to the goats who dwell inside the barn, complete with musical instruments.

The couple is enjoying time with one another and their animals now that their children have left to create their own homes.

They devote time and attention to their pets. Sedgwick posted a video of herself and Bacon playing ukelele and guitar to their pets.

They put on small concerts for their goats and other animals to entertain both the animals and themselves.

The pair has given each of their animals a name. Their goats’ names include Louie, Macon, Hocus, and Little Man.
