In Howard City, Michigan, Helen Beebe is a crucial member of her neighborhood. She is a resident of the city and an engaged member of society having been born in 1921.
Everyone who visits and works at the city’s community center adores her, and she is an active member of it.
She cherished the potluck birthday celebration the center hosted for her in honor of her milestone 101st birthday.
Helen claimed that despite being 101 years old, she still does all of the housework alone and even finds the time and stamina to bake frequently.
Her weekly itinerary also includes Friday trips to the community center and Wednesday trips to the grocery shop.
She claims that her active lifestyle is the key to keeping both her mind and body in good shape all these years. She firmly believes that staying busy and active will help a person stay intellectually and physically smart.
She claimed that her and her brothers’ parents, who always kept their kids occupied and busy in something or another, fostered the habit of moving around and staying active in her and her siblings.
My parents took us here and there and kept us busy doing things, she recalled, adding, ‘That’s what I think is life.’
Helen Beebe enjoys dancing as well. She loves to dance the polka, but due to her senior age, she cannot participate in it. She yet continues to dance to slow music.
