Avett Ray, who has been blind since birth, learnt to play the piano entirely by ear. The budding musician was born with optic nerve hypoplasia, a disorder caused by the optic nerve’s underdevelopment (s).
He hasn’t, however, let any of that stand in the way of his musical development. As soon as Avett was able to pull himself up to the piano, he began playing the tune to ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,’ according to Avett’s mother.
A nearby news organization picked up the child’s first viral video. In the video, Avett begs his mother to send Adele, who was at the time Avett’s favorite singer, a copy of his performance.
Millions of people all across the world quickly shared the movie online as it spread. Since his widely-shared cover song on January 6th, 2019, Avett has released a ton more of them.
He shares his talents with the world by posting his videos on his YouTube channel (link at the bottom of this article). Here is his rendition of ‘Rocket Man,’ a timeless song by Sir Elton John.
You can find a list of news organizations, music journals, and regional media outlets that have written on the small man’s musical journey by searching for ‘Avett Ray Maness’ on Google.
He has accomplished a lot in such a short period of time, making many people happy. On his YouTube account, Avett declares, ‘Playing music is my favorite activity! Hopefully you enjoy my videos.’
