Illinois resident Roxy Heinhorst is shown weeping and rejoicing after her stray cat returns home.

The five-year-hair old’s is of the domestic short variety. When everyone was in a hurry to go for work, Oliver slipped out the back door.

Once they got home from work, they checked the doorbell camera footage from that morning and saw that he wasn’t there.

Fear set in, and they hastily left to get Oliver.

They returned home from their hunt and left Oliver’s blanket on the porch, and he miraculously emerged.

Because he had never ventured far from home before, Oliver spent nearly 12 hours wandering aimlessly.

Roxy, the store’s owner, is shown giving Oliver a bear hug and jumping with joy after realizing he has returned in a touching moment captured on camera.

As Drake, Roxy’s husband, put it: ‘After scouring the area for a few hours, we finally came home.’

Because we are so close to a major thoroughfare and because our community has had coyote problems in the past, we were relieved to hear that he was okay.

The couple has vowed to be more watchful ever since Oliver’s escape attempt.

Drake remarked: ‘We hope he’ll be pleased with spending his days on our screened-in patio, where he can receive some fresh air and sunshine.

‘We’ll be sure to keep an eye on him.’
