Pedro Villarin, 65, has terminal liver cancer but wanted to live long enough to see his daughter on her wedding day.
The brave father knew he’d never be able to walk alongside his daughter Charlotte, but he thought he could at least escort her in a wheelchair.
Unfortunately, his health began to deteriorate fast this summer. Villarin’s health was so severe that his daughter moved her wedding date up two months to August 9.
Villarin grasped his daughter’s hand from a stretcher as she walked to the alter with the assistance of a nurse.
‘That wedding was really for him because he wanted to go with me to the altar and witness my wedding because I was his favorite daughter,’ Charlotte explained to the Metro.
‘It turned the day bittersweet.’ It grieved to know he was leaving us, but I was grateful for his presence. I’m glad he was able to see my wedding.’
‘We hired a private nurse and an ambulance.’ We believed he’d be able to sit in a wheelchair, but he couldn’t and had to use the ambulance stretcher instead,’ she explained.
‘But he truly sacrificed since he was in suffering at the time.’ And we thank God for making that possible.’
Charlotte said that her father died shortly after the ceremony. ‘It was incredibly hard, but knowing he left this world, accomplishing his dream, I’m already glad no matter what,’ she wrote on social media.
She captioned this final shot from her wedding, ‘Papu, I love you very much.’
