‘Manchester United’ forward Cristiano Ronaldo told British journalist Piers Morgan in an interview about the worst moment of his life, noting that it was the death of his newborn son.
According to the Daily Mail, Ronaldo and his common-law wife, Georgina Rodriguez, announced the death of the newborn boy on April 18, detailing that the couple’s daughter, Bella, is alive.
‘It was probably the worst moment of my life since my father’s death. When you have a child, you expect that everything will be normal, but when there is a problem, it is difficult.
Gio (Georgina) and I had a difficult time.It was very, very difficult to understand what was happening in that period of my life.
Football does not stop, we have held many competitions. Perhaps it was the most difficult moment of my life,’ Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo added that he keeps his son’s ashes next to those of his father, who died in 2005, in the chapel of his home.
‘I talk to them all the time and they are there for me. You know, they help me be a better person, a better father.
And that’s something I’m really proud of… the message they’re sending me, especially my son,’ he added.
Ronaldo became emotional as he spoke about the tragedy and added how he cried with his eldest child, Cristiano Jr, when he broke the news of the infant’s death to the other children.
‘The children started asking where is the other child, where is the other child,’ Ronaldo said.
