A pair from Austin, Texas, has recently been awarded a distinguished title, the likes of which only a select handful will really be able to claim for themselves.
John Henderson, who is 106 years old, and Charlotte Henderson, who is 105 years old, have just shattered the record for the oldest married couple with a combined age of 211 years.
Additionally, on December 15, they will be honoring the occasion of their 80th wedding anniversary.
They were both students at the University of Texas in Austin in 1934, and it was then that they first came face to face with one another.
After getting married in December of 1939, the couple went on a honeymoon that consisted of spending $7 in a hotel room.
So, what exactly is the key to the couple’s record-breaking marriage as well as their extraordinarily long lifespan?
John asserted that he maintained a moderate lifestyle throughout the year 2017. They never go beyond the point of reasonableness.
Consume food mindfully. Good sleep. Consume alcohol in moderation. Don’t overindulge. In addition to that, exercise frequently.
John is the oldest living former University of Tennessee football player and is also one half of the oldest married marriage. A
Charlotte claims that after John’s retirement, they were able to relax and have a good time together.
They did a lot of traveling. They simply keep themselves active at all times, which unquestionably helps.
The pair currently gives their time as volunteers at Longhorn Village, which is a retirement community for retired UT employees and students.
