Patrick Dempsey fell in love with his hairstylist; he only proposed to her after three years and worked hard to keep her forever.

When Patrick Dempsey visited his hairdresser’s office, he instantly fell in love.He was unable to ask her out for a date for three years, and then she eventually became his wife.

But once, he almost misplaced her. Before they finally clicked, TV star Patrick Dempsey courted his future wife for years.

The two were still associated with other individuals at the time, but as soon as Dempsey learned his possible partner was free, he moved in.

Dempsey met Jillian Fink, his hairdresser, there where they would later get married. In an interview with People in October 2002, the pair reminisced about their early days.

Fink stumbled found the name ‘Patrick Dempsey’ in her appointment book while working at her Los Angeles hair salon, Delux. She did not think it was the TV personality.

Fink assumed it was another practical joke from one of her prankster staff members. The make-up artist explained,

‘All the persons he had put in were names of celebrities popular in the ’80s, such Molly Ringwald.’

But in 1994, Demspey did visit her hair salon. Fink remembered that when he first showed up at her place of business, she was astounded:

‘I was surprised. However, I couldn’t help but smile since he was so adorable.’Despite her eagerness, Fink was still in relationships at the time, and both of them were.

Dempsey nevertheless often visited the hairdresser for three years to get his hair cut. She countered,

‘That’s not true!’ when he subsequently admitted that Fink constantly flirted with him before they became together.

The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ alum learned that Fink was a single lady in 1997 through a common friend, so he wasted no time in getting in touch with her.

Dempsey made pasta for Fink at his home during the couple’s first date. She moved in with him three months after that. The couple is currently residing in a Spanish-style three-bedroom house.

The couple wed and had a child, but they were on the verge of divorcing. In 1999, Dempsey and Fink exchanged vows in a small ceremony at the Maine home of the groom.

Kirsten Mason, the bride’s sister, said Dempsey cried when he saw his future wife go down the aisle:

‘He began sobbing when he saw her.’

Talula, the couple’s daughter, was born in February 2002. Darby and Sullivan, their twin sons, were born in 2007.

Dempsey spoke about his children in 2020, saying he was amazed by how perceptive and observant they are of their environment. He continued that he was more fascinated with assuaging their intrigue.

’I’m always in awe of their perception and their observations. It’s exciting and enjoyable to think of responses to their inquiries. And the questions become more challenging! Added Dempsey.

The father of three was previously overworked, but he was able to take time off to spend more time with his family and even began coaching soccer.’

Darby, one of his boys, is a huge sports fan, while his other two kids, Sullivan and Tallulah, have diverse interests.

The delighted father added that while his sister likes to cook, Sullivan wants to be an actor like his dad.

The three-parent man talked about his adolescent daughter, who, he conceded, was maturing too quickly for him.

It’s a significant transition. You must endure the turbulence, he exclaimed.

The race car driver continued by saying that spending time with his children was his first priority.

He appreciates the little amount of time he has with his loved ones and enjoys being with them.

Even though it appears that everything is going well at home, Dempsey and the mother of his children briefly discussed divorcing.

After 15 years of marriage, the pair announced their separation in a public statement, according to TMZ in January 2015:

‘We have chosen to end our marriage after giving it considerable thought and respect from both parties. The welfare of our kids is still our first priority.’

As it came out, Fink had requested a divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

The mother of three requested joint custody of the couple’s kids and daughter in addition to spousal and child support in the filing.

It was claimed that Fink had a problem with her husband’s ego and thought it was too much for her to handle.

According to additional stories, she reportedly planned to divorce him due to his obsession with auto racing.

What Dempsey Did to Save His Marriage
But when Fink and Dempsey were photographed in public in Paris the same year they filed, everything changed.

To demonstrate their continued love for one another, they shared photos of themselves riding bikes and holding hands.

They even posted about their trip on social media. They requested to end the divorce procedures by May 2016.

Dempsey was open about the frailty of his marriage to Fink in September 2016 and acknowledged that he was not ’prepared to give up on it.

He claimed that both of them needed to do more and were eager to do it correctly. They were able to restart it in this manner.

The ’Loverboy” actor admitted that he was terrified of maybe losing his wife. ‘It’s always unsettling when you’re potentially severing ties with family members or when a significant portion of your life is coming to an end,’ he said.

He sought help from Fink in couple’s therapy to address their problems. Most importantly, they wanted to demonstrate to their offspring that conflicts could always be resolved in order to establish a positive example for them.

Dempsey’s main takeaway from the experience was to put his wife first. He and Fink sacrificed everything to protect the accomplishments they had made together because they could not bear to let them go.

The ‘Enchanted’ star views his marriage as a ‘new beginning’ after learning what it takes to create a long-lasting relationship.
