The stars of the 1968 movie ‘Romeo and Juliet’ are suing Paramount Pictures over a nudity scene.
Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey were teenagers
when the movie was made.It should be noted that in an interview with Variety in 2018, Hasi defended the ‘naked’ scene.
During the court case, the English actors, who are already 70 years old, claim that the film’s director
Franco Zeffirelli forced the presence of nudity scenes, despite earlier assurances that they would not be mandatory.
Paramount has yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit. The actors are demanding more than $500 million in damages.
The actors claim that Dzeffirelli, who died in 2019, originally said that the actors would wear flesh-colored underwear in the bedroom scene.
However, before filming, the director told them that they would only make up the body, while assuring them that the camera would be positioned so that nudity would not be seen.
The actors sued Paramount for sexual harassment and fraud. They also accuse the Hollywood studio of sexually exploiting young actors and distributing nude pictures of teenage children.
