One would think that the news is constantly negative. But, there are also many heartwarming tales that renew your trust in people, such as the one that follows.
Michael Kelly, a police officer from Cleveland, Tennessee, was manning the security at the neighborhood Walmart one day.
Officer Kelly observed a parent and four children passing through the self-checkout lane while he was on duty.
Kelly had noticed the family frequently while she was out shopping because the children were so well-behaved. But, the father’s card was rejected when he attempted to pay.
‘They walked to self-checkout, and he went to put his card in,’ he told Inside Edition. ‘The attendant apologizes and they begin walking out.’
Something compelled the cop to assist at that precise moment.Because the father was unable to purchase groceries, the officer concerned if he and
his children would have enough to eat. He couldn’t stand by and see them walk away empty-handed, so he decided to pay for their purchases himself.
‘I was taken in by the little girl’s expression. It crushed my heart to see her eyes flood up. ‘I heard
God say to me, ‘I put you up here for a reason.’’ ‘I approached [the man] and said, ‘Please allow me to bless you today.’’
Jermaine Bowe, a bystander, saw Kelly pay for the products and afterwards shared the details on Facebook.
He requested for aid in identifying the kind-hearted cop, and when the department learned of the story, they instantly stepped in to assist. Posting the story to their Facebook page, they wrote:
’I was scrolling through random Facebook posts when I came across this one that makes us ALL happy to be Cleveland police officers.’
‘We narrowed it down to our tallest officer and deduced it was School Resource Officer Mike Kelly after a ‘he’s 6’5 and buff’ description.’
Kelly’s generous act has gone viral since she published the post.Members in the community, however, were unsurprised by his actions in the comments:
‘I’m not shocked, Mike being Mike.’‘Michael has always had a big heart; what a wonderful person!’
‘I’m not surprised. He is descended from a long tradition of honorable people.’
