During a touching tribute to his late ’John Wick’ co-star Lance Reddick, Keanu Reeves broke down in tears. See what he said

The passing of actor Lance Reddick last week stunned and grieved people all across the world. On March 17, the actor apparently passed away at his Los Angeles home from natural causes. He was 60.

The Wire, as well as Oz, Fringe, Lost, and Bosch, were among the TV series for which Reddick was most recognized.

But, he might be most known to moviegoers for his role as Charon, the concierge of a hotel frequented by assassins, in the popular John Wick films.

Reddick, who will play the same character in the next sequel John Wick: Chapter 4, regrettably missed the much anticipated movie’s release.

His co-stars, though, used the film’s premiere as an opportunity to remember the late actor, breaking down in tears on the red carpet.

Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and Ian McShane, among others, were seen wearing blue ribbons as an homage to Reddick at the movie’s premiere on Monday.

A note distributed with the ribbons said, ’We kindly ask you to wear this royal blue ribbon in memory of

our beloved buddy Lance Reddick,’
according to TMZ. The late star’s favorite hue was blue, therefore that’s why it was picked.

It was a heartwarming display of support and affection for Reddick, whose passing undoubtedly threw a sorrowful pall over the occasion.

Reddick has played a significant role in the popular action franchise from the start, making appearances in all of the movies and has been scheduled to feature in the Ballerina spinoff.

Keanu Reeves, the star of the franchise, spoke candidly about the death of his co-actor on the red carpet.

‘Lance is a really special artist and a very beautiful person,’ an obviously moved Reeves told ET. ‘His brilliant light of character, grace, and dignity was just something really exceptional.’

He told Deadline that ‘he was a lovely person, a special artist, [and] a man of grace and dignity [with] such a passion for his job.’

It has been a privilege for me to work with him on four projects over the course of ten years.
Reeves continued, ‘It f—ing sucks he’s not here.

Reeves and John Wick director Chad Stahelski issued a statement on Friday, shortly after the news of Reddick’s passing, announcing that they will dedicate the soon-to-be-released movie in his honor.

In their statement, they stated, ‘We are terribly grieved and heartbroken at the passing of our great friend and colleague Lance Reddick,’ according to ET.

He was a pleasure to work with and the epitome of professionalism. His wife Stephanie, his children, family,

and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. We honor his memory by dedicating the movie to him. He will be sorely missed.

Without Lance Reddick and the unmatched depth he brought to Charon’s compassion and unflappable charisma, the universe of Wick would not be what it is, according to the film’s creators, Lionsgate.

Although Lance has left behind a lasting legacy and a tremendously outstanding piece of work, we will always remember him as our kind, happy friend and Concierge.

We are shocked and inconsolable, and our hearts go out to his cherished family and his adoring followers everywhere.
