In a rare interview, Katie Holmes revealed that she wants to ‘protect’ the daughter she had with Tom Cruise.

When Holmes and Mission Impossible actor Cruise divorced in 2012 after six years of marriage, it was a highly publicized split.

Holmes kept custody of the couple’s daughter, Suri, after their divorce, the reasons for which were the subject of much speculation.

She has been open about how little Suri, who is now 16 years old, has been seen over the years.

Holmes herself rose to fame at the age of 19 after getting a part in the Dawson’s Creek teen drama.

Holmes told Glamour Magazine, ‘I remember really wanting to grow as an actress and not just do stuff to

profit on the moment when we were doing Dawson’s Creek and it was successful. I desired to gain knowledge from others.

Yet when she started dating Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise, the Batman Begins actor was catapulted

to new heights. As the couple welcomed a daughter, Suri, public interest in their family reached a new high.

In fact, because of the scrutiny, Tom and Kate’s young daughter’s paparazzi photos have been appearing virtually every day.

In order to defend her young daughter’s integrity, Katie retreated from the spotlight in response. Her career hiatus ended in 2011.

As previously mentioned, Tom and Katie parted ways in 2012, five years after exchanging vows during a ceremony in Italy.

It may not have been all that surprising for the rumor-mill to go into overdrive given that they were one of the most well-known couples on the planet.

In fact, Katie and Tom filed for divorce in New York. According to reports, she did this so that she would have a

better chance of winning Suri’s sole custody because the law dislikes awarding combative parents dual custody.

Holmes was able to make sure that Suri was kept away from Scientology once she was granted sole custody of the youngster.

Tom was reportedly unaware of the impending divorce, thus he was unable to manipulate the story like he was alleged to have done with Nicole Kidman.

Whatever the situation, Holmes’s desire to keep her child safe is still very strong.Prior to Rare Objects’ debut, the 44-year-old actress said:

‘I really prefer to protect her, which has been incredibly crucial for me with my daughter because

she was so exposed at a young age. I’m so appreciative to be her parent and a parent. She is a wonderful lady.

It was only reported a month ago that Tom Cruise hardly has any contact with his daughter. The 60-year-old

Top Gun star, according to Page Six, is no longer a part of Suri’s life and hasn’t seen her in a long time.
