Fairness and following the rules are concepts that are well understood and valued. Unfortunately, fairness is not a topic that is frequently addressed in life.

Instead, some individuals receive challenging circumstances through no fault of their own.Cam Amen is a young man who has experienced the harsh realities of life firsthand.

Before going on American Idol, 27-year-old Cam told Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie a little bit about himself and his past.

As Cam says, he was raised in foster care when a child and was separated from his siblings. Cam, however,

took a significant life-altering choice at the age of 18 in order to reunite with his brother and sister. He adopted them out of foster care and took on a parental role.

Throughout five arduous years, Cam raised and looked after his sister and brother. Brother and sister of Cam are now in their early 20s and live independently.

Cam begins his audition song, Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah,’ after outlining his dramatic and painful life path. Cam gives a moving performance while wiping away the tears from his eyes.

Not just Cam but everyone else was distraught. Luke was in tears the entire time Cam was on stage.Cam receives glowing reviews from the three judges!

During Cam’s performance, Lionel tells him that God was responsible for bringing him to American Idol to perform in front of the judges.

Whatever the reason, Lionel added, ‘divine direction brought you to us. And we’re going to go on a wild ride, my friend.

Not only do Katy, Lionel, and Luke all vote in favor of Cam, but they also award him the platinum ticket,

which not only brings him to Hollywood but also lets him move on to the next stage of the competition.
