This grandmother in Texas works very hard to fight cancer so that she may go to her grandchild’s wedding,
and she expresses thanks because she is currently in remission from the condition. Tennie Burkett Ivy,
who is 97 years old, was born in Houston, Texas. She walks a mile every day, which helps her maintain terrific health.
Consequently, learning that she had breast cancer right before her last granddaughter’s wedding was a tough pill for her to swallow.
She had been present for the weddings of her other three grandkids, and she had no intention of missing this one either!
She also thinks that the key to her effective cancer therapy was her tenacious persistence.
Tennie was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in November of 2020, and as of last October, the condition is currently thought to be in remission.
She said, ‘I give thanks to the doctors, nurses, and the Lord,’ to express her thankfulness.
Tennie will always cherish the moments when she and her family could celebrate and dance together at her grandson’s nuptials.
She has also started back up on her regular mile-long walk.
Tennie also hopes that people of all ages will be inspired by her story and understand that it is never too late to fight cancer.
