A pelican was saved by a family who noticed it struggling to breathe with a fish stuck in its beak while in the water at a dock in Englewood, Florida. A video of the rescue, shared on YouTube, shows a young girl crying out for help while one of two men in a boat attempts to remove the fish from the bird’s beak. It was discovered that the fish had a double-sided hook in its mouth, which had also pierced the pelican. With careful teamwork, the two men were able to remove the fish and free the bird from its choking hazard. The difficulty of the task was explained by the presence of the hook, which made the rescue more challenging than expected.
