It seems like there is so much grief and suffering in the world that it is Newsner’s responsibility to prioritize locating positive tales.
We’ll be the first to confess that in the current context, where the major news organizations appear to be driven only by tragedy and fear-mongering,
it’s easier said than done. However, if one seeks long enough and hard enough, compassion and love may be found, which is why we are happy every time we unearth news that will make readers smile.
We all understand that a teenager’s senior prom is one of their largest social occasions. For Trenton, Michigan, student Kenzie, who couldn’t wait to go to her prom in 2019, it most certainly was.
It goes without saying that for the majority of girls, selecting their prom dress is the best part of the event.
I still clearly recall my sister agonizing over her outfit for the big night for weeks beforehand,
and even when she finally settled on it, she didn’t feel really content until many weeks later. Thankfully, Kenzie had no such dilemma.
No, she was immediately aware of the dress she would wear, one that was quite important to her family.
Even though the white lace dress had spent decades in storage, Kenzie felt she had to take it out and give it another chance to be seen in the sun.
As a result, when prom night arrived, she prepared and asked her father to come outside and meet her on the back patio so they could say goodbye before she left to have fun.
Her father had seen Kenzie’s dress on another young woman previously, albeit it had been a significant number of years ago.
It came out that Kenzie’s decision to wear his sister’s old prom dress had surprised her father. She had tragically
departed away at the young age of 19, therefore Kenzie made the gesture in an effort to honor her late aunt.
It goes without saying that when Kenzie’s dad saw the dress, he started to cry. He gave his daughter a loving embrace while trying to hold back his tears.
Kenzie continued, ‘I’ve been trying to keep this from you for so long.’
