In Poland, a woman shot putter ran a hundred meters instead of an injured runner. Belgian shot put champion
Julien Bumkwo competed in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the European Games in Poland.
She volunteered for the race after the lead runner was injured just before the start.
The ball thrower took part in the race,
because her absence threatened the national team with disqualification, and there were no other runners in the team.
It should be noted that Bumkovo was not able to win, but she ran the entire distance and did not knock
down any pole ‘obstructing” the run. Thus, she saved the national team from disqualification.
