Michael Buble is a capable musician with talent. He has millions of loyal fans worldwide, one of the best-selling Christmas records ever,
all the professional success he could ever want, and millions of admirers. Despite his widespread recognition
and considerable money, he had one more dream that he hoped to fulfill: performing with Barbra Streisand.
Luckily, Barbra asked him to perform ‘It Had To Be You’ alongside her, so he got the chance to mark this off his list.
Michael seized the opportunity, and the ensuing performance exceeded all superfan expectations.
Michael tried to lighten the mood with his partner by cracking a joke before they launched into their duet.
This was a great way for him and Barbra, who had never met before, to get to know one another. Michael approached Barbra surreptitiously and cracked a playful jest about it, saying:
‘Since you’re paying for it, this is the least expensive recording session I’ve ever had,’ the musician exclaims.
This was another method he used to get rid of the stress he was feeling. He admitted to the camera crew that Barbra
had influenced his music when he was younger and that he didn’t want to sabotage the performance at this point.
‘It was a great pleasure to be included in this.” Furthermore, I’m proud to be a part of the fantastic
organization where I currently work. ‘I just wanted to make sure I didn’t let her down by showing up there.’
Fortunately, Barbra sensed Michael’s anxiety and got to work calming him down right away. In order for him to instantly
feel at home when he heard the music, she wanted to include his big band flair into it. Barbra articulated her thoughts as follows:
‘In the classic sense, Michael is a large band vocalist. I therefore thought of the concept of having the big band take over after a ballad.
‘We have the ability to experiment with the sound.’ His manner, his voice, his sense of independence, and his sense of self all reveal this.
The pair entered their sound booths and started playing around with the song while the orchestra played softly in the background.
She told the camera crew that having access to live music was essential to producing high-caliber music and that she wouldn’t record a song without it.
‘I’ve always recorded in this manner in the past. since my debut album’s release. I’ve recorded a few things with an orchestra.
It’s a lot of fun! The music that the orchestra is playing inspires me to do new things that I hadn’t thought of before, like singing with the symphony.
We can understand why she needs an orchestra and talented musical partners like Michael after hearing the final version of ‘It Had To Be You,’ which is so lovely.
