An alum of ‘American Idol’ wishes to ‘put her name in the hat’ to replace Katy Perry as a judge following the 22nd season.

Although Jennifer Lopez has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Perry, if the former American Idol finalist gets her wish, she will go from being the audience favorite to a judge.

Jordin Sparks, the 2007 American Idol winner, expressed interest in the vacant post when Perry declared she was looking for other options.

‘Oh hiiii @AmericanIdol—I hear a seat opened up at the judges table!’ tweeted the 34-year-old singer. My name is going into the hat!

Sparks’ supporters jumped at the chance to back her candidacy as one of the upcoming Idol judges.
‘Please carry out. To be honest. An Og winner, in my opinion, is just what it needs,’ a commenter commented.

‘This is a great decision since she can help them because she has expertise with it! Perhaps a new star will be found, just like in the good old days!

‘It’s past due that a previous victor be appointed as a judge! You would be flawless, therefore it’s only right,’ another user tweeted.

Sparks won American Idol in 2007 when she was 17 years old. She became the youngest person to win the singing competition.

During the finale she performed “This is My Now”, which would become her debut single, to beat out Blake Lewis.
