Anyone can pause and turn around for a closer look at a puppy. However, very few people would genuinely be concerned about an abandoned animal on the street.
In 2019, Khemjira Klongsanun, 43, noticed a wounded dog lying by the side of the road when she was competing in a marathon.
‘I felt like this little guy was lost.’ She informed The Daily Mail that there were no nearby houses, dogs, or people.
However, her fellow runners simply brushed the timid small Thai Bangkaew breed dog aside. However,
Khemjira pulled over, picked up the puppy, and carried the adorable creature with her the 19 kilometers to the finish line.
According to Good News Network, Khemjira was competing in the Chombeung marathon in Ratchaburi, Thailand.
She didn’t think leaving the young child alone would be acceptable. Khemjira remarked, ‘I picked up the puppy, if only to get him out of the dangerous environment.’
She added that while running a marathon, it was difficult to bring the dog to the finish line. ‘Holding a dog and running over 20 kilometers was a real struggle.
She remarked, ‘Even though it was twice as exhausting as a typical marathon, I still did it because he is so cute.
After the marathon, she did everything in her power to track down the dog’s owner, but when she was unable, she made the decision to retain her and began taking her to the veterinarian for more formality.
Khemjira is concerned about giving stray animals a place to live and frequently participates in animal rescues.
She now has twelve more animals in her vast family of twenty-eight dogs and thirty cats. She adds that some of the animals were also donated to her
by owners who thought they might not be able to give them the care they need. She is currently saving money for her dream project, which is to develop
a rescue home on a roughly 3-hectare plot of land in the Phan Thong neighborhood of Chonburi, devoted to her furry children. She also wants to start a fund to help stray dogs who have been hit by cars.
