In December 2023, the Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass Band will be playing at the Kaohsiung Chengyi Hotel in Taiwan.
Every year, they travel, give performances, and watch the California Rose Parade. On their website,
they respond to questions about how they manage to play and dance simultaneously by saying that it takes a lot of practice.
Few hours each day after school and a few hours before classes. Training on holidays and the weekends.Every year, they have three days off from practicing.
Naturally, they have also created efficient training techniques over time that hasten the process.
The first song they play is ‘Uptown Funk,’ a Bruno Mars tune produced by British musician Mark Ronson.
It was made available in 2014 through the Uptown Special album. The song ‘Uptown Funk’ has some really catchy lyrics, including:‘We’re here on Saturday night. Don’t believe me? Just watch, please.’
The female marching band members do a variety of dance-like routines, including leg tapping, back-and-forth pacing, spinning, and general musical jamming. They also play their instruments. It’s a real talent.
The next song is ‘Sing, Sing, Sing,’ which was composed and penned by Louis Prima in 1936. He recorded it with the New Orleans Gang the first time.
Benny Goodman and his band popularized the tune, which is well-known in the big band and swing genres.
The marching band dances and moves to the music as they get into the song. Towards the end of the song, they also wave. A marching band with such quality is certainly the sight to behold!
