Modern banjo player John Dowling hails from Cornwall, England. Numerous people have appreciated his musical skills.

John Dowling started performing music at a very young age. In 1986, he received a violin as a present, and the following year, he would perform at his first concert.

In 1993, he received a music scholarship to study violin at Cornwall’s Truro School. He would get his first banjo as a Christmas present the following year.

Between 1998 and 2002, John Dowling competed in a number of folk and bluegrass competitions. He would even demonstrate how to play the banjo on television for British stand-up comic Frank Skinner.

John Dowling, together with his spouse, violinist Anna Dowling, performs as part of The Dowling Thing.
