On Sunday, December 4, 2022, the crowd attended the Broadway debut of A Beautiful Noise: the Neil Diamond Musical,

anticipating to hear their favorite songs from the legendary 81-year-old vocalist. But they were about to receive a very pleasant surprise.

Diamond surprised everyone by entering the balcony during the curtain call and leading the audience in a sing-along of his well-known 1969 hit, ‘Sweet Caroline.’

At the Broadhurst Theatre, the well-known singer, who had announced her retirement from touring in 2018 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, was warmly welcomed.

The audience gave a standing ovation in appreciation as the musical detailing his life and showcasing his talents began.

The real surprise, though, came after the curtain call. He got up from his box seat, took out his microphone, and started singing the well-known song ‘Where it began.’

The musical icon invited the full audience to join in on the famous chorus, which was being played by the house band, as soon as he finished singing the song’s first few words.

One of the few times Diamond has performed in public since receiving his diagnosis, this spontaneous

appearance at the jukebox musical celebrated his storied and hit-filled musical career. It was also Diamond’s first visit back to his hometown since 2017.
