Tippi Hedren, the retired actress, turned 94 years old recently, and her daughter Melanie Griffith shared pictures from the celebration on Instagram.

Griffith uploaded two pictures of her mother: one in which she looks gorgeous with bright pink lipstick,

and another in which she’s having fun with a fork full of cake and colorful party glasses that read ‘CAKE TIME!’

Tippi Hedren told PEOPLE before turning 94 years old about her plans to celebrate with her family. While it

may not seem spectacular to the outside world, she said that as a mother and grandma, it’s the ideal way to celebrate.

Melanie Griffith is the daughter of Tippi Hedren and Peter Griffith; Tippi is also the grandmother of Melanie’s four children, Jesse Johnson, Dakota Johnson, Stella Banderas, and Alexander Bauer.

The mother-daughter pair has continued to have a tight relationship over time. Tippi was named the timeless beauty by Melanie Griffith, who dedicated her 2016 timeless beauty award to her mother.
