After discovering her real mother and performing a song to honor her on American Idol last month, Julia Gagnon had a remarkable tale to tell.
The 21-year-old sang Aretha Franklin’s ‘Ain’t No Way’ with great intensity, demonstrating that it takes a courageous lady to attempt to match the Queen of Soul.
Fortunately for her, Gagnon was undoubtedly talented and won over the judges with her expressive and soulful voice.
The song ‘Ain’t No Way’ was a great choice since, despite the lyrics focusing on a romantic relationship,
the idea of seeking a true connection is connected to Gagnon’s search for her biological mother.
The judges were exchanging pointed glances as the college student delivered a rendition of the soul classic over a solo piano arrangement that accentuated her genuine performance.
Judge Lionel Richie exclaimed, ‘Oh my God,’ as Gagnon, who clearly grasped the assignment, built the song to a victorious high note.
Gagnon started the song with a scratchy and low-key vocal. ‘When you hit the amazing falsetto and then you turned the volume down to a beautiful,’ Luke Bryan remarked in response to this.
