At a concert honoring the late Patsy Cline, Kellie Pickler made a moving comeback to the stage on Monday.
Pickler, 37, performed with a number of other musicians at Walkin’ After Midnight: The Music of Patsy Cline at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
Although most of the featured artists delivered renditions of Cline’s tune, Pickler went with a song she co-wrote with her late spouse.
‘I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I am extremely nervous right now,’ Pickler remarked as she entered the platform. It’s been a while since I’ve been up on stage.
‘Let me start by saying that I feel deeply honored to be a part of Ms. Patsy Cline’s tribute. She played a major role in my love affair with music.
She continued by introducing a song that she co-wrote ‘over a decade ago’ with her late husband, Kyle Jacobs.
‘I was here at the Ryman Auditorium on a date night with him the final time. And I’m sure he’s here with us this evening,’ she declared to the crowd.
The suicide of Jacobs occurred in February 2023. 49 was his age.Pickler thanked everyone for their support in a message released six months after his passing.
‘In a time of crisis, if you don’t know what to do, just be still. That was one of the most beautiful
lessons my husband ever taught me,’ the former American Idol contestant remarked. ‘I’ve decided to follow his advice.’
‘I am grateful for the numerous letters, calls, and messages I have received from my family, friends, and supporters.
It is getting me through the worst period of my life and has really touched my spirit. I pray for all of you, as many of you have informed me.
