Following St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on Wednesday, the gathering honored the memories of Sinead O’Connor and her close friend Shane MacGowan, who both passed away last year.
At the end of the evening, Dublin-born singer Roisin Waters onto the stage, instantly evoking memories of her mother thanks to her remarkable beauty and expressive vocals.
Roisin was greeted by Sinead O’Connor, who died on July 26 at the age of 56, along with her friend, Irish journalist John Waters. Following a protracted custody battle, Roisin’s father reared her in Ireland.

reflecting a moment reminiscent of O’Connor’s homage to her late mother.Fans complimented Waters on her performance in a YouTube video, calling it ‘beautiful.’
With a roster that included renowned performers including The Violent Femmes, Josh Ritter, Imelda May, Billy Bragg, and Dropkick Murphys, the event earned $70,000 for the nonprofit organization PEN America.
Performers honored MacGowan and O’Connor for three hours, performing their best-loved songs and sharing personal tales and recollections of the esteemed singers.
