Camila Cabello’s distinctive ice clutch at the Met Gala captured everyone’s interest. The 2024 Met Gala featured some iconic outfits,

and the event was held on May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Her choice of accessories was particularly out of the ordinary and had a specific backstory.

In an interview with Extra, Camila Cabello gave her explanation for her unusual accessory selection: ‘I feel like it is impermanence and things decaying over time and the beauty in that.’

In keeping with the concept, the ice clutch broke during the evening. The former member of Fifth Harmony disclosed that the purse changed during the occasion.

‘It was a purse,’ she explained, ‘but then it broke about 5 minutes into being in line, so I called my stylist like, ‘What do I do?’

After making the hasty decision to clutch the remaining piece, Cabello said, ‘We’re just trying things here.’

It wasn’t just a block of ice in the clutch. It was created by Jane Wade and included a copper rose as well, which matched the invites’ single bloom and perfectly complemented the overall motif.

Cabello’s ensemble featured more references to the concept of ‘beauty in decay.’ Her gorgeous Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown weighed fifteen pounds and had two hundred fifty thousand Swarovski crystals on it.

The bottom of the dress included deliberate rips that connected to her concept of impermanence. She accessorized her appearance with shimmering makeup and a ‘wet’ ponytail.

The ‘Señorita’ singer was inspired to put together her ensemble not only by the gala’s ‘Garden of Time’ theme, but also by her new album, C,XOXO, which is scheduled for release on June 28.

She told Variety, ‘It’s Miami-themed, so we’re wet and dripping.’ This statement not only relates to the concept of her record, but it also deftly links to her appearance and the whole atmosphere of the gala.
