Judges were impressed by her timeless 1959 song and outfit.

With its calming melodies and poignant lyrics, “Sea of Love” is a timeless and entrancing song that has captured listeners for years.

When Phil Phillips first recorded the song in 1959, it instantly became a hit, touching listeners and securing a unique position in the annals of romantic songs.

It has also endured the test of time, appealing to listeners with a wide range of musical interests and eras.

Over the years, it has been covered numerous times. Vocalist Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin started a side project named The Honeydrippers in 1984,

and their first song was a cover of ‘Sea of Love.’ Additionally, a captivating duet version of the song

was recorded by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss in 2007 as a part of their Grammy Award-winning album ‘Raising Sand.’

Additionally, Nashville, Tennessee-based singer-songwriter Emily West appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2014 and gave another rendition of ‘Sea of Love.’

She was wearing a 1959-inspired costume that fit the period perfectly. With just an acoustic guitar for accompaniment, she captures the attention of the audience right away.

Her unadulterated vocals and straightforward arrangement could have been at a Greenwich Village coffee shop or maybe a Miami supper club. What a wonderful performance this is!

Emily finished the season in second place, and it’s obvious why—as judge Howard Stern put it, ‘she’s the real deal.’
