After being taken to the hospital earlier this week, Oprah Winfrey’s close friend Gayle King is now finally providing her admirers with the gory details.
To find out more about what sent Oprah to the hospital, continue reading. Earlier last week, Gayle King launched Oprah Winfrey’s ‘Oprah’s Book Club’ on CBS.
Normally, Oprah is in the studio, excited to present her own selection, but it appears that this particular occasion, the media icon was not present.
But Gayle King, her friend, was there to step in and give an explanation for her buddy’s unannounced absence.
She gave author David Wroblewski, who was present in the studio, an explanation for the media mogul’s absence when it came to discussing her preferred novel, Familiaris.
King addressed Wroblewski, saying, ‘I’m so glad you’re here and I’m so sorry that Oprah can’t.’ ‘She declared yesterday that she will hold a rally.
She was suffering from a stomach illness of sorts, with crap flowing out of both ends. Tony Dokoupil
and Nate Burleson, King’s co-hosts, both audibly responded to this news. King said, ‘I won’t get too graphic.’
Needless to say, though, she required an IV and ended up in the hospital due to dehydration. It was a really important matter.
She is fine and will be fine. King continued by mentioning how Oprah would have wanted to attend in person to celebrate the author herself, which may have signaled to her that she had shared too much information.
King hesitantly said, ‘I hope she’s not mad at me for sharing that detail.’ We will make up for it, but I wanted to make it apparent that she cared about it and that it really hurt her that she couldn’t be here today.
Speaking alongside the author—who had been chosen by Oprah’s Book Club in 2008—were King, Burleson, and Dokoupil.
After Gayle’s admission, a message explaining her absence from the show was also posted on the Oprah Daily Instagram account.
Today, @oprah was supposed to appear on @cbsmornings to reveal her newest pick for the @oprahsbookclub.
Being the best friend she is, @gayleking offered to make the news for her when she got a stomach sickness over the weekend, according to the caption.
We are pleased to report that Oprah is feeling much better following her doctor’s prescription to receive an IV for dehydration. We hope for a quick recovery for her.
Oprah and her crew released an official statement along with the caption. It said, ‘Ms. Winfrey is recuperating from a stomach virus and, per her doctor’s advice, received an IV because she was dehydrated.
She is getting more rest and improving every day. Later on Tuesday, King conducted a video conversation with Winfrey,
during which the latter made it clear that she had only received fluids at the emergency room rather than being admitted to the hospital.
‘I was at the urgent care facility. Winfrey said, ‘I was really dehydrated. ‘I went to the emergency room because I couldn’t keep enough water down to get hydrated and I had dry mouth,’ the statement said.
She said, ‘I’m not 100, but I’m on my way to 100,’ when asked how she was doing at the time. She revealed that she was ‘too weak to get on a plane,’ therefore she was unable to appear on CBS Mornings on Tuesday.
King said, ‘She was sidelined with a stomach virus that caused such dehydration that she went to the hospital to get an IV drip,’
in the description of her post. ‘I thought I made that clear, but the next thing I know, I’m shocked to see headlines declaring that Oprah has been admitted to the hospital!’(She wasn’t!)
And people are calling me to ask if Oprah is okay,’ King said. ‘Yes, is the response! Let’s get right to the source now.
