At 54, Matthew McConaughey finally explains why he had to quit Hollywood for two years.

Even though he is a well recognized actor with a long list of achievements in the entertainment world, Matthew McConaughey’s path to the top wasn’t always easy.

The 54-year-old is well-known for his outstanding performances in movies like Interstellar, Dallas Buyers Club, and A Time to Kill.

The public has also grown to love him because of his endearing demeanor and genuine charm.However, it appears that he briefly considered giving up acting completely.

The actor recently spoke with Interview Magazine and disclosed that he had considered retiring at one point.

‘I’ve usually zigged when I felt like Hollywood wanted me to zag,’ McConaughey said in an explanation.

There was only so much bandwidth I could devote to those during my rom-com years, even though they were some of my best favorites.

But I was itching to try some different things. Naturally, I wasn’t getting it, so I had to spend two years away from Hollywood.
