Years have passed since the somewhat unsettling claims initially surfaced, but Sean Penn continues to insist that he never hit his ex-wife Madonna with a baseball bat.

During the turbulent 1980s, Penn and Madge were married. According to some outrageous claims, Penn once tied Madge to a chair and struck her with a bat.

In an interview with the New York Times, posterchild for I Am Sam actor Penn addressed his previous relationship with Madonna and maintained his denial of the most serious accusations made against him.

At this point, it should be noted that Madonna has denied that Penn ever physically abused her. The legendary singer even appeared in court to defend Penn in a defamation case based on the claims.

However, some people would tell you that there rarely is smoke without fire, and rumors about the now 63-year-old Penn have been around for decades.

Although a SWAT team was called to their home as a result of one of Penn and Madonna’s fights, Penn acknowledged in a recent interview with the New York Times that this did not happen as a result of any physical violence on his behalf.

During the conversation, Penn talked about how his ex-wife had phoned the police, expressing her fear that there were guns in the house.

That seemed to be enough to set the legal system in motion, since a short while later, a SWAT squad broke windows to get entry to the couple’s house and handcuffed Penn.

Sean recounted, ‘I had a freaking SWAT team come into my house,’ to the New York Times. ‘I declared,

‘I’m not going out.’’ I’m going to complete my breakfast now. The next thing I knew, they were breaking windows throughout the home and entering.

In 1987, Penn and Madonna called it quits on their two-year marriage. At that point, certain rumors started to suggest that Penn had abused his physical form.

Though he clarified, ‘I didn’t know what ‘trussed up’ meant, first,’ the actor related how he had heard rumors that he had ‘trussed her up like a turkey.’

When Penn went outside one morning to smoke with a new lover, he was questioned about hitting Madonna in the head with a baseball bat. He recalled, ‘I had no idea what the hell she was talking about.’

It’s reasonable to say, I suppose, that I’m not the biggest guy in the planet at this point. However, Mike Tyson will go to the hospital if I strike him in the head with a baseball bat.

In the interview, the actor also stated that he still has a cordial connection with his ex-wife. He remarked,

‘It turns out that if there are no children involved, it’s much quicker to repair a friendship after divorce.’Do you recall the tumultuous marriage between Madonna and Penn?
