After much waiting, Kevin Costner has finally acknowledged that his divorce with Christine Baumgartner hurt his heart, calling it a ‘crushing moment.’
When it was revealed that the 20-year married couple would be divorcing last year, the super star actor and his ex-partner made headlines.
At the time, there were strong rumors that Baumgartner was the one who started the divorce process, and Costner was said to have been disappointed and astonished by her decision to end things.
However, Costner’s official opinions and sentiments have remained secret up until this point.
The Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves star appears to have moved on from Baumgartner after a legal struggle over child support payments,
and it appears he’s now at a position where he feels comfortable talking about his breakup with the designer.
Regarding his divorce, Costner remarked, ‘That’s a crushing moment,’ in an interview with CBS News earlier this week.
Even as it ached, I continued. The actor went on to say that because of his kids, he had ‘no choice’ but to move on.
Costner and Baumgartner have a daughter, Grace, 14, and two sons, Hayes, 15, and Cayden, 17. In the meantime, Costner has a kid with Bridget Rooney and three more children with his ex-wife Cindy Silva.
When discussing their breakup with Baumgartner last year, the 69-year-old stated, ‘My children are looking at me, so I can’t wilt like a daisy.’
‘I must move forward. I have to stay true to who I am and pay close attention to who they are. The reasons behind Costner and Baumgartner’s ostensibly blissful marriage ending in divorce were hotly debated last year.
While some publications suggested that Costner’s busy schedule at Yellowstone was the cause, other reports suggested that the actor had doubts about his ex-wife’s friendship with Josh Connor.
In fact, after Connor and Baumgartner were spotted together earlier this year, it was reported that Baumgartner had moved on from their friendship, despite her testimony in court in July.
