A choir on a plane performs a tribute for a fallen soldier on the way back home.

Abolitionist Julia Ward Howe penned ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic’ in 1861. The patriotic melody used a section from ‘John Brown’s Body.’

During the review, one of the infantry battalions was playing a song, and Julia had the idea to alter the words.

This classic song has grown to become a national symbol of the United States throughout time. Though several musicians have covered this song, nothing makes you feel the same way as this choir on an aircraft.

As the pilot deplaned, he revealed that an Army private would be returning to Houston with the remains of a soldier from World War II.

A chorus began to sing ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic’ as the private plane’s occupants stepped down first.
