A touching reunion between a mother and son after 20 years apart was arranged by a family in Virginia, and the touching event was caught on camera.
Two decades had passed since Juan left Peru and hadn’t seen his mother. This week, under the pretense of honoring his son Aiden’s birthday, his kids and family executed the ideal scheme.
Mia Bernal, then ten years old, was complicit in the plot to surprise her father during her brother’s birthday celebration.
Grandma Josefina Mamita was transported into the United States under cover of darkness from Lima, the capital of Peru, where she raised four children, including Juan, Mia’s father.
In a letter to GNN, Mia stated, ‘He hasn’t seen her in almost 20 years.’ ‘My dad didn’t notice anything because we picked her up at the airport at 4:00 in the morning while he was sleeping.’
That evening, the 75-year-old grandma was supposed to make an appearance at everyone’s gathering at her Aunt Nelly’s home.
‘It was my idea to have Aiden blow out the candles and wish our grandmother was here,’ Mia said.
‘She’ll show up and surprise our dad right after that.’ She also expressed a desire to prepare some of my dad’s favorite Peruvian meals!
As planned, Aiden wished for ‘that Mamita Josefina was here’ during his birthday celebration, when his family inquired about his wishes.
She materialized out of nowhere, drawing her kid in for a long embrace. It was undoubtedly “one of the best surprises in his life,’ as Mia had prophesied.
Since this was Josefina’s first trip to the United States, the day was very memorable. Her delivery coincided with the family’s plans to take her to the Independence Day fireworks celebration on July 4.
