Prince Harry has voiced his concerns about Meghan Markle’s return to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex opened up about his fears for his family’s safety in a new interview for ITV’s Tabloids on Trial documentary, which premiered on July 25.
‘It’s still dangerous, and it only takes one person reading this to act on what they read,’
Harry said. “It really bothers me. This is one of the reasons why I will not bring my wife to this country.”
In 2022, Neil Basu, the former head of the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terrorism unit, said that the Duchess of Sussex’s life had indeed been threatened while she was living in the UK. “People have been prosecuted for those threats,” Basu said at the time.
Prince Harry previously said he was “forced” to step back from his royal role and leave the UK citing safety concerns for his family.
After the couple announced their decision to step back from royal duties, the Royal and Commonwealth Protection Executive Committee (RAVEC) stripped them of their automatic rights to police protection in the UK.
Although the Duke of Sussex offered to cover security costs, his offer was rejected and High Court judge Peter Lane upheld the decision earlier this year.
Prince Harry intends to appeal the decision.
