Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck recall the early days of their romance, desperately trying to save their marriage. An estranged couple write love letters to each other in an attempt to mend their strained relationship.
Although Lopez and Affleck were ready to “call it quits” a few months ago, they are no longer on the verge of splitting up as they work to save their union while keeping their personal lives out of the spotlight.
“Jen and Ben have agreed that it’s best to spend some time apart so they can really figure out what they want,” an insider told DailyMail.com.
“They were ready to surrender. The divorce papers are ready. But they want to try one more time, so they go back to the beginning, writing letters to each other. That’s what made them fall in love at the time.”
Lopez featured many of Affleck’s love notes in her film The Greatest Love Story Never Told, and the actor revealed that he clung to his correspondence with Lopez during his 13-year marriage to Jennifer Garner.
She later made a book of these letters to give to Jay when they reunited in 2021. “Ben gave me this book for our first Christmas together,” she said in the documentary. “Here are all the letters we wrote to each other 20 years ago and today.”
But her latest love letters to Affleck won’t be made public. “JLo will definitely not show these letters to anyone this time,
and they will just remain between her and Ben,” said the insider. “If they decide they want to stay together, she will keep her private life. Now that looks promising.”
