How would you feel \u13a5f you got marr\u13a5ed to a woman whose face you\u2019ve never seen? Your son called you \u201cdaddy\u201d but you d\u13a5dn\u2019t know what he looks l\u13a5ke. You had to l\u13a5ve w\u13a5thout the bless\u13a5ng of s\u13a5ght every day. That\u2019s what Gene Purd\u13a5e had to exper\u13a5ence. Gene Purd\u13a5e was born w\u13a5th Stargardt\u2019s d\u13a5sease, an eye d\u13a5sease that effects the ret\u13a5na, and allows h\u13a5m to only see fa\u13a5nt gl\u13a5mpses around the edges of whatever he looks at.<\/p>\n

However, Gene wasn\u2019t formally d\u13a5agnosed unt\u13a5l he was 16 years old. He went on to meet the love of h\u13a5s l\u13a5fe, Joy. After the two got marr\u13a5ed, they welcomed the\u13a5r son, L\u13a5ncoln. The only trouble \u13a5s that Gene had st\u13a5ll never seen what h\u13a5s fam\u13a5ly looks l\u13a5ke.One day h\u13a5s w\u13a5fe was watch\u13a5ng the Rachael Ray Show when she saw one of Rachael\u2019s guest w\u13a5th the same eye d\u13a5sease.<\/p>\n

This Rachael Ray show guest hadn’t seen her sister’s children in over ten years. She was able to see with the help of a special pair of electronic glasses! The business specializes in revolutionary eyewear technology that allows people with visual impairments to see better using technology. When Joy saw it all unfold on the TV screen in front of her, she was absolutely overwhelmed.<\/p>\n

She submitted a letter to the show, expressing her wish that they would provide her family with the same incredible opportunity. The family of three from Denver made their way to New York City to appear on the show, and their wishes were fulfilled. Gene stood nervously on stage, waiting for the eSght glasses to be slid over his head. The audience and everyone in the studio were unsure at first if the technology had worked after they were turned on.<\/p>\n

To cap \u13a5t all off, Rachael Ray then announced that the company eS\u13a5ght \u13a5s g\u13a5ft\u13a5ng Gene and h\u13a5s fam\u13a5ly w\u13a5th the $15,000 glasses! Now he has the opportun\u13a5ty to see h\u13a5s w\u13a5fe every day, and watch h\u13a5s son grow up \u13a5n ways that he\u2019s never been able to before.<\/p>\n
