Jimmy Stewart was a great actor who starred in films such as It’s a Wonderful Life, Rear Window, and Vertigo. However, few people are aware that the late actor had a fondness for poetry. <\/p>\n

He delivered a poem about his favorite dog, I’ll Never Forget a Dog Named Beau, on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1981.<\/p>\n

‘He never came to me when I called\/ Unless I had a tennis ball\/ Or he felt like it\/ But he didn’t come at all most of the time. <\/p>\n

He never learnt to heel, sit, or stay when he was younger, and he did things his own ‘According to Tree Hugger, the veteran actor began by detailing his pet’s wicked behavior.<\/p>\n

Stewart didn’t feel obliged to point out during the poem that his dog was never excellent at being disciplined, but there were a few things the pet did that he loved. ‘As I’d leave the room, he’d gaze at me \/ And get up from his spot by the fire \/<\/p>\n

He knew where the tennis balls were upstairs \/ And I’d give him one for a while \/ He’d push it under the bed with his nose \/ And I’d fish it out with a smile,’ he said.<\/p>\n

‘He’d get tired of the ball and fall asleep in his corner before long. And there were evenings when I’d feel him Climb onto our bed \/<\/p>\n

And sleep between us \/ And I’d pat his head. And there were evenings when I felt this look, and when I awoke, he was sitting there, and I reached out my hand and stroked his hair. <\/p>\n

And I’d occasionally notice him sigh, and I believe I know why. He’d wake up at night \/ And he’d be afraid of the dark, of life, of many things \/ And he’d be delighted to have me near \/ But now he’s dead.’<\/p>\n

‘And there are nights when I think I feel him \/ Climb upon our bed and lie between us \/ And I pat his head \/ <\/p>\n

And there are nights when I think I feel that stare \/ And I reach out my hand to stroke his hair, \/ But he’s not there,” the heartbroken actor continued<\/p>\n

‘And there are nights when I think I feel him \/ Climb upon our bed and lie between us \/ And I pat his head<\/p>\n

\/And there are nights when I think I feel that There was not a single dry eye in the room when he finished the poem, and even the show’s presenter, Jimmy Carson, was moved to tears.<\/p>\n
