Those who reject the idea of fate should get to know Holocaust survivors Jack Waksal and Sam Ron, who reconnected in South Florida 79 years after they first met.<\/p>\n

When Waksal managed to escape into the forest from the Pionki Labor Camp in Poland, the two were split up and Ron was transferred to another camp that was eventually freed.<\/p>\n

When Waksal went to the South Florida Dinner of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum last Sunday, he was unaware that his former campmate was the featured speaker. <\/p>\n

Waksal had the impression of meeting a fraternal sibling when Shmuel Rakowski, his previous name, was used to introduce him.<\/p>\n

According to NBC Miami, Ron said, ‘He leapt from the seat and came sprinting over to my seat and says you’re my brother, I was really upset, I’m typically not a very emotional guy.’<\/p>\n

The two, who were only minors at the time of their imprisonment, were able to travel to the United States, specifically to Ohio, where they lived separately for 40 years before relocating to South Florida.<\/p>\n

‘Jack claimed he worked at the same place,’ I added. ‘We were carrying coal to the oven to produce heat to make power.’ According to CBS, Ron reportedly revealed they spent time in the camp. <\/p>\n

‘Hundreds of people died due to hard labor, unfavorable circumstances, cold, and hunger. The individual next to you being cold when you woke up was not unusual.’<\/p>\n

The two guys, who reside 40 miles apart, are committed to sustaining the survivor’s fire and bridging the enormous time gap through personal anecdotes. Ron periodically speaks to students in classrooms to share his experiences.<\/p>\n

As Ron explained, ‘I try to teach them not to hate, to have a lot of hope, and to believe in yourself. This is what I did, this is how I survived because I believe in myself.’<\/p>\n

They exacted revenge on Adolf Hitler by living long, successful lives and having children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, according to NBC reporter Ari Odzer.<\/p>\n
