<\/p>\nFor Jim Adams, his art studio in White Rock, British Columbia was a place of solace after the death of his wife in 2017. <\/p>\n
The 79-year-old artist and former college art professor told Global News, \u2018You never get over it, you just get used to it.\u2019<\/p>\n
Adams’ home and studio, however, became too quiet during the isolationist plague. <\/p>\n
He took a chance and joined a senior dating site that uses personality tests to pair up individuals over the age of 50 with potential partners.<\/p>\n

\u2018I need something more in my life, I need a connection,\u2019 Adams told Global News.<\/p>\n
As Adams signed up for the program, White Rock resident and service veteran Audrey Coutts, 79, was preparing to delete her own account.<\/p>\n
Most of the potential partners suggested by the program fell short of her expectations. <\/p>\n
\u2018Some males would send me messages saying, ‘Contact me if you’d like,’ or ‘I like your photo,’\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n
Adams, who stands at a towering 6’8\u2019, made it quite obvious in his profile that he was seeking a tall woman. It was pure chance that made Coutts a towering 5’10\u2019.<\/p>\n
Their timing was perfect, and they hit it off right away.<\/p>\n
Adams remarked that he appreciated having someone whose head was closer to his own because he is so tall.<\/p>\n
The relationship progressed quickly, and the couple got married on Sept. 25 \u2014 less than a year after their somewhat awkward first date at a bistro. <\/p>\n
Laughing, Adams explained how he returned home to retrieve his wallet before returning to the office. <\/p>\n
The picture was already on display at the Vancouver Art Gallery when he decided to propose by adding a ring to it. <\/p>\n
On the ring is the name of the woman he already knew he would spend the rest of his life with.<\/p>\n
During their intimate ceremony, Coutts and her husband exchanged vows while holding hands. <\/p>\n
The pair claims that the excitement of the past year has left them too exhausted to plan a honeymoon just yet. <\/p>\n
