<\/p>\nCeline Dion, a singer from Canada, and Rene Angelil, who would later become her husband, were in a relationship when they first met, but they did not publicly acknowledge it.<\/p>\n
It took Dion and Angelil a total of five years after they first started dating before they came clean about their relationship, as reported by Good Housekeeping. <\/p>\n
In 1987, when she was only 19 years old, the couple embarked on their first date together (but Dion revealed they started seeing each other a year before that).<\/p>\n

Because of the 26-year age gap between them, the winner of the Golden Globe Award declared her connection with Angelil in her album titled \u2018The Color of My Love.\u2019<\/p>\n
She was concerned about being outspoken about it due to the fact that they had won different awards. Dion mentioned that she had some reservations about how other people might see the romantic relationship they were pursuing. <\/p>\n
\u2018I was terrified of what others would think,\u2019 she said, but the vocalist said she could not keep it a secret any longer because she wanted to announce her love for Angelil: \u2018I was afraid of what people would think.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018When you are in love, all you want to do is shout it from the rooftops.\u2019<\/p>\n

In the end, Dion and Angelil decided to follow their instincts and wed on December 17, 1994, in an opulent ceremony that was shown on television and held at the Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal. She was 26 years old, and he was 52 years old. <\/p>\n
After only four years of marriage, the music producer and the vocalist of \u2018The Power of Love\u2019 were confronted with a number of challenges. Angelil received a cancer diagnosis in the throat in the year 1998. <\/p>\n
After receiving the news, Dion made the difficult decision to put her hard profession on hold so that she could focus on taking care of her devoted spouse. Angelil’s cancer went into remission in 2002, two years after it had first been diagnosed.<\/p>\n

The couple wanted to start a family in addition to dealing with the condition, but the process of doing so took longer than expected because Dion had fertility concerns. <\/p>\n
On January 25, 2001, however, after several years of trying to conceive through various fertility treatments, Dion finally gave birth to the couple’s first child, a son who they named Rene Charles. <\/p>\n
After numerous rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF), Dion and Angelil gave birth to fraternal twin boys on October 23, 2010; their names are Nelson and Eddy.<\/p>\n

Sadly, the news that Angelil’s illness had returned in 2013 was another blow to the couple, and it left them in a state of utter devastation. <\/p>\n
In December of that same year, he underwent surgery to have the tumor removed. The surgery was successful. <\/p>\n
The year after that, Dion took another vacation from her job in order to take care of the man who was fathering her children. <\/p>\n
Angelil Passed Away After a Prolonged Fight Against Cancer <\/p>\n
Angelil’s courageous battle with illness was ultimately unsuccessful, and he passed away in January of 2016. <\/p>\n
Unfortunately, his wife was not there to support him because she had a show to attend that evening. <\/p>\n
In an interview that she gave to \u2018TODAY\u2019 in September 2019, she said that her husband had sent her the following text message just before he died away:<\/p>\n
\u2018Before the performance, he gave me a quick message that simply said, \u2018I love you.\u2019 He then called me. And by the time I got home that evening, it was an extremely late hour.<\/p>\n
And I didn’t want to be the one to come in and wake him up just to kiss him, because then he might not be able to fall back asleep again. The following morning, he was nowhere to be seen.\u2019<\/p>\n

Dion underlined the fact that they \u2018said farewell\u2019 to one another before Angelil took his last breath. <\/p>\n
The winner of five Grammy Awards revealed that she instructed her husband \u2018to depart in peace\u2019 since she did not want him \u2018to worry\u2019 about anything. <\/p>\n
She claimed that he had been worried about her flourishing career as a musician, their children, and everything else that occurred in between during her entire life.<\/p>\n
Dion pleaded with her longtime beau to \u2018believe\u2019 her and assuaged his concerns about the well-being of their children and herself by saying the following: <\/p>\n
\u2018The kids are fine. I’m fine. I promise you we’re going to be OK. I beg you, let there be peace. I don’t want you to be anxious about anything.\u2019<\/p>\n
In the wake of Angelil’s passing, Dion gave an open and honest account of his final desires. In May of 2016, she gave an interview to ABC News in which she stated that her spouse of 21 years had expressed a desire to pass away in her arms.<\/p>\n

Dion Experiences a Sense of Contentment Now That She Is Aware That Her Husband Is No Longer in Pain <\/p>\n
Dion has stated that the talent manager has provided her with the strength that allows her to feel at peace because she knows that he is no longer \u2018suffering\u2019 from the disease:<\/p>\n
I’m relieved that he’s no longer in pain,\u2019 I said. The renowned artist went on to say that\u2019 he has given it to me all my life\u2019 in reference to the grit that she carries.<\/p>\n

Dion asserted that although though her devoted hubby has passed away, he is still very much a part of her life since he lives on in her heart.<\/p>\n
She has not stopped paying tribute to him online and expressing her love for him, and she continues to do so even now. <\/p>\n
In January 2022, the mother of three children uploaded on social media a black and white photograph of Angelil along with the sentiment that she deeply missed him:<\/p>\n
In January of 2021, Dion posted yet another message that broke her heart on her Instagram account, this time accompanied a picture of the couple holding hands. <\/p>\n
She reiterated once more how much she misses him and asked him to continue watching over her and their children while also pleading with him to watch over her. \u2018You will always have a place in our thoughts and in our lives. We love you.\u2019<\/p>\n

When asked about it in the past, Dion described Angelil’s death and the subsequent loss of their father as \u2018very something.\u2019<\/p>\n
She mentioned that the man who was a father to three children had devoted his entire life to her, and that to this day, because they serve as a reminder, he is still there within them. <\/p>\n
The doting mother reported that the singer is still a regular part of their life, which gives her the confidence to carry on.Dion has not remarried even though Angelil has been gone for six years now. <\/p>\n
She was candid about her romantic relationships, revealing that she was not dating anyone at the time because she did not feel she was ready. <\/p>\n
Instead, she remarked that she was \u2018laughing\u2019 because of the people she had in her life, and that this made her realize how blessed she was. <\/p>\n
Dion has stated that her passion is mostly with her children and with life in general, and that romance is the furthest thing from her thoughts when it comes to issues pertaining to the heart.<\/p>\n
